Overview
The Azure Architect supports architecture design, solution planning, modernization projects, and high‑level troubleshooting across Azure cloud services. The role bridges the gap between engineering and senior architecture teams by contributing to solution design, governance, and best‑practice implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing Azure infrastructure solutions including Compute, Storage, Networking, App Services, AVD, and Security components.
- Contribute to solution architecture documents (HLD/LLD) and technical proposals.
- Design and automate Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Bicep, and ARM templates to ensure consistent, repeatable, and scalable deployments.
- Implement IaC best practices to standardize provisioning, reduce manual configuration, and support DevOps-driven delivery models.
- Participate in cloud migration planning, modernization, and optimization initiatives.
- Review and improve cloud security posture through policies, RBAC, and network design.
- Support architecture decisions for Application Gateway/WAF, Azure Firewall, VPN/ExpressRoute, Landing Zone components, etc.
- Work closely with operations teams for escalated issues requiring architecture input.
- Implement governance controls such as Azure Policy, Blueprints, resource hierarchies.
- Support cost‑optimization tasks including VM rightsizing, reservations, and cleanup.
- Provide guidance to L1/L2 teams and ensure adoption of cloud best practices.
- Evaluate new Azure services and recommend improvements.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of Azure core services: Compute, VNet architectures, NSGs, Firewalls, Load Balancers, App Gateway, Storage, Backup, Monitoring.
- Hands‑on skills with ARM, Bicep and Terraform.
- Experience designing or supporting AVD deployments.
- Good knowledge of identity architecture (Entra ID, Conditional Access, Privileged Access).
- Understanding of landing zone design principles and cloud governance.
Nice to Have
- Azure Architect Associate (AZ‑305) or Azure Admin (AZ‑104) certification.
- Exposure to DevOps tools (Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines).
- Experience with hybrid infrastructure (on‑prem + Azure).
