SUMMARY OF THE JOB
Under the general direction of the Global Services Head of Infrastructure and Operations and the technical lead of the Zone Track Lead SAP Platforms, with the same area of expertise, the SAP Basis Engineer is responsible for operating and improving the run of enterprise applications using shared platforms in his/her zone or region, paying special attention to the SAP landscapes and associated peripheral systems/databases.
He/She collaborates with the Managed Service Provider BASIS team to ensure the stability, performance and security of the ERP landscapes and associated systems.
The main purpose of this position is to ensure that the enterprise applications meet the business requirements and expectations in terms of performance, availability, security and continuity.
The I&O Global Services - SAP Basis Engineer, executes complex tasks and drives the transfer of
knowledge, for tasks that are appropriate for the Managed Service Provider, to off-shore teams.
He/she follows up on Managed Service Provider’s team's quality of execution to ensure that the tasks are executed according to expectations.
The main challenges for the incumbent are the following:
Deal with complex technical environments, policy and organizational issues and with multi-dimensional problems.
Deliver services to different IT organizations and countries across the zone.
MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide Installation, Configuration and Support SAP ERP application platforms.
• Duplicate SAP systems using data replication methods approved by SAP.
• Migrate SAP systems from one platform to another.
• Support Global PO team to migrate interfaces from current ERP platform to SAP Integration Suite.
• Plan and execute lifecycle activities to ensure the SAP ERP is secure, supportable and functional for the business.
• Provide after-hours support as needed, including a rotating 24x7 on-call support schedule.
• Proactively review, coordinate and apply platform patches as required.
• Provide proactive improvement, technical upgrades, and support of platforms environments.
• Determine and implement proper monitoring points and tuning alerts to be able to monitor the platforms proactively.
• Create and maintain platform administration documentation outlining administration policies and practices.
• Support the Managed Service Provider teams to ensure the correct application of the Standard
• Operational Procedures and enhance daily operational functions.
• Ensure excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) by providing visible leadership and driving for the execution of the basics of the H&S operating model and adherence to Group H&S standards and policies.
