Job Title: Data Engineer

Department: Service Assurance

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Service Assurance function. This role is central to the design, development, and maintenance of our data reporting platforms, and analytical tooling. The successful candidate will combine strong technical data engineering skills with the ability to interpret data and communicate meaningful insights.
Working across our BI, Snowflake Cortex, and AI-assisted reporting environments, you will build scalable data pipelines, develop impactful dashboards and reports, and leverage tools including Claude (Anthropic) and CoPilot to enhance data interpretation and automate insight generation.

Responsibilities
•    Design, build, and maintain robust data analytic reports and processes to support Service Assurance reporting and analytics needs.
•    Develop and publish reports and dashboards in Business Intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Snowflake, Tableau, or equivalent), ensuring accuracy, usability, and performance.
•    Work within Snowflake Cortex to create, optimise, and manage data models, queries, and analytical workflows.
•    Utilise Claude (Anthropic) and other AI-assisted tools to automate reporting, generate data summaries, and produce actionable interpretations of complex datasets.
•    Write and maintain SQL scripts, Python scripts, and LLM prompts to support data extraction, transformation, and analysis tasks.
•    Perform trend analysis and data storytelling, not just producing reports, but interpreting what the data means and communicating findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
•    Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate business questions into data solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience
•    Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a closely related data role (e.g. BI Developer, Analytics Engineer).
•    Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including Snowflake Cortex for advanced analytics and AI-powered SQL functions.
•    Strong proficiency in SQL — writing complex queries, optimising performance, and working with large datasets.
•    Experience developing reports and dashboards in BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or equivalent.
•    Proven experience designing and optimizing ETL pipelines and data architectures, with demonstrable focus on performance and cost efficiency.
•    Practical experience using AI tools such as Claude (Anthropic) for data interpretation, prompt engineering, and automated reporting workflows.
•    Ability to write and maintain Python scripts for data processing, automation, and analysis.
•    Experience creating and refining LLM prompts to extract structured insight from unstructured data or to automate narrative reporting.
•    Strong analytical mindset — able to interpret what data trends and patterns mean in a business context, not just produce numbers.
•    Proven ability to present data findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
