Role Summary:
The Windchill Upgrade Engineer is responsible for planning and executing upgrades of PTC Windchill PLM systems. The role ensures smooth migration between versions, system stability, and compatibility with business processes and integrations. 4 to 6 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute end-to-end upgrades of PTC Windchill (e.g., 10.x to 11.x / 12.x upgrades).

• Upgrade and configure related components such as:
  • ThingWorx (if integrated)
  • PTC Creo integrations
  • Directory services (LDAP)
  • File Server
  • AEM
  • Creo View Adapters

• Validate customizations, workflows, and integrations (CAD, ERP, Directory Services).
• Troubleshoot issues related to upgrade tasks, performance, and system components.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for testing, validation, and go‑live support.
• Prepare documentation, reports, and technical procedures.
• Ability to analyze issues, work independently, and collaborate with IT/Engineering teams.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience working with PTC Windchill administration and implementation
• 2+ full lifecycle Windchill upgrade project experience.

• Strong knowledge of:
  • Windchill architecture (Method Server, Apache, Tomcat)
  • Windchill PDMLink / ProjectLink modules
  • Database management (Oracle / MS SQL Server)
  • Java, JSP, and Windchill customizations

• Familiarity with Unix/Linux and Windows server environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Windchill upgrades.
• PTC certifications (Windchill System Administration).
• Experience in clustered and cloud-hosted environments (AWS/Azure).
