ROLE TITLE                                        Senior DevOps Engineer

ROLE SUMMARY

Designs, implements, and optimizes DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and cloud-native delivery platforms. Enables secure, reliable, and efficient software delivery by improving development workflows, release processes, infrastructure automation, platform reliability, and operational resilience across enterprise environments.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting enterprise application delivery and release management processes.
  • Engineer deployment automation frameworks that improve release quality, consistency, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Administer container platforms, Kubernetes environments, and supporting orchestration technologies.
  • Enable development teams by improving build, test, deployment, and release workflows.
  • Integrate automated testing, validation, security scanning, and compliance controls into delivery pipelines.
  • Monitor platform health, deployment performance, and application reliability metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Resolve deployment failures, application delivery issues, and platform incidents through troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Implement DevOps best practices that improve software delivery speed, operational stability, and engineering productivity.
  • Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, security, and application teams to deliver scalable and resilient technology solutions.
  • Develop automation scripts and tooling using modern scripting and programming languages to reduce manual effort and operational risk.
  • Maintain deployment standards, release procedures, operational documentation, and support runbooks.
  • Evaluate emerging DevOps technologies and recommend improvements that enhance platform capabilities and software delivery processes.
  • Mentor engineers and team members on DevOps methodologies, automation frameworks, and platform engineering practices.
  • Participate in operational support activities and serve as an escalation resource for critical deployment and platform issues.

Area(s) of responsibility

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

DevOps & CI/CD

  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps, software engineering, infrastructure engineering, or platform engineering roles.
  • Strong experience designing, implementing, and supporting CI/CD pipelines and release management processes.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitHub Actions, or comparable DevOps platforms.
  • Strong understanding of source control, branching strategies, release management, and deployment methodologies.

Containers & Cloud-Native Technologies

  • Experience administering container platforms and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of containerization concepts and application deployment patterns.
  • Experience supporting cloud-native application environments and distributed systems.

Automation & Scripting

  • Strong proficiency with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience developing automation solutions that improve deployment efficiency and operational consistency.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts and deployment automation frameworks.

Monitoring & Reliability

  • Experience implementing monitoring, logging, observability, and alerting solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities across application and platform environments.
  • Experience supporting highly available and resilient production systems.

Security & Compliance

  • Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and secure software delivery practices.
  • Experience integrating security controls, vulnerability scanning, and compliance requirements into deployment pipelines.
  • Understanding of identity management, secrets management, and access control practices within DevOps environments.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting Azure cloud environments.
  • Experience with Terraform, Bicep, or other Infrastructure as Code platforms.
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Relevant DevOps, Kubernetes, Azure, or cloud certifications.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
