Area(s) of responsibility
Job Description: Enterprise Architect – On‑Prem to AWS Migration with 18+ yrs of experience
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Enterprise Architect to lead and govern large‑scale on‑premises to AWS migration programs. The ideal candidate will drive end‑to‑end architecture, ensure enterprise tools and platforms integrate seamlessly into the target AWS environment, and provide strong oversight on risk mitigation, cost optimization, delivery timelines, and technical quality. This is a strategic role requiring deep technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, security, compliance, infrastructure, and business teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cloud Migration Strategy & Architecture
- Define the overall cloud migration blueprint, including landing zone architecture, application migration patterns (rehost, replatform, refactor), and modernization opportunities.
- Lead current‑state assessment and target‑state AWS architecture definition across compute, storage, networking, security, identity, data, and application domains.
- Select appropriate AWS services aligned to enterprise standards, scalability needs, security controls, and cost expectations.
2. Delivery Leadership for On‑Prem to AWS Migration
- Own delivery governance for migration execution, ensuring adherence to architecture, methodology, and organizational best practices.
- Guide migration teams on workload prioritization, dependency mapping, wave planning, and cutover strategies.
- Provide architectural oversight during build, testing, deployment, and hypercare phases.
3. Enterprise Tool & Platform Integration
- Ensure seamless integration of enterprise tools within the AWS target environment, including:
- Monitoring (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch, AppDynamics)
- Security tooling (SIEM/SOAR, vulnerability scanners, identity systems)
- ITSM/ITOM platforms (ServiceNow, CMDB integrations)
- DevSecOps pipelines and enterprise CI/CD frameworks
- Define integration patterns, interface contracts, and compliance controls for all cross-platform interactions.
4. Risk Management & Governance
- Establish and maintain a migration risk register, covering technical, security, compliance, timeline, and operational risks.
- Drive proactive mitigation strategies and technical solutions to reduce migration complexity and cutover risks.
- Ensure architectural decisions meet enterprise risk, security, and regulatory requirements.
5. Financial Governance & Cost Optimization
- Develop cost models and TCO calculations for AWS target environments.
- Ensure design decisions minimize unnecessary spend through rightsizing, architectural efficiencies, and use of AWS cost-optimization features.
- Collaborate with FinOps teams to track usage patterns and optimize ongoing run-rate.
6. Timeline, Program, and Stakeholder Management
- Partner with program management teams to define realistic migration timelines, milestones, and success measures.
- Ensure cross-functional alignment between engineering, security, infra, networking, and business stakeholders.
- Present architectural decisions, risks, and progress updates to senior leadership and steering committees.
