Network Specialist

As a Senior Network Consultant, the high-level responsibilities will be around designing, supporting, and optimizing enterprise network environments while ensuring high availability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications:

  • Possess 10+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer supporting large-scale enterprise networks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in routing, switching, wireless controllers, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI).
  • Ability to provide advanced (P1/P2) incident support, including troubleshooting and resolving critical network issues when escalation beyond the existing network team is required.
  • Experience in developing network recommendations as per best practices and implementing improvements aligned with customer security standards and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess the current network architecture and drive continuous optimization and modernization initiatives.

Preferred Certifications (Nice to Have):

  • CCNA / CCNP
  • Cisco Certified Specialist – Data Center ACI Implementation (DCACI – will be an asset)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Below are some examples of the types of activities and responsibilities this individual would handle daily:

  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to the networking components of the J.D. Irving Limited infrastructure.
  • Act as an escalation point and coordinate with vendors and external technical resources to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Serve as the networking subject matter expert on a wide range of internal and customer‑facing technology projects, ensuring alignment with organizational standards.
  • Optimize existing systems for performance and capacity, while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Research, understand, and implement networking security protocols.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all networking solutions.
  • Lead and oversee day‑to‑day networking activities and contribute to long‑term operational planning.
  • Work with tools and technologies such as Cisco Prime, Cisco Identity Services Engine, Cisco Catalyst, Junos Space, OpManager, CheckPoint, and A10/Netscaler load‑balancing platforms.
